The APP Tour visited Rockwall, Texas for the APP Dallas Open. Megan Fudge put on an impressive performance, securing gold medals in both women’s and mixed doubles events. Yana Newell also had a fantastic showing, taking the silver medal alongside partner Emily Cedarquist in women’s doubles, and making it to her first APP women’s singles finals where she claimed her first singles gold medal. Champions pro Marcello Jardim delivered a remarkable performance, clinching gold in singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles. With this remarkable achievement, he has become the sixth champion pro to secure an APP triple crown.
Continuing its busy schedule, the APP then headed to Newport Beach for the APP Southern California Open. In men’s singles, Christopher Haworth continued his streak by earning his fifth consecutive gold medal. Amanda Hendry had an outstanding performance, taking home three medals: gold in women’s singles, gold in women’s doubles with partner Simone Jardim, and bronze in mixed doubles with partner William Sobek. Max Manthou came away with the double double securing the gold in mixed doubles with teammate Christine Maddox and in men’s doubles with Erik Lange.
As the regular season wrapped up, MLP hosted its final two events where Premier and Challenger league teams battled it out to determine which teams would secure a coveted spot in the playoffs. At MLP Las Vegas, the St. Louis Shock went undefeated on the weekend, putting them in first place. Meanwhile, the AZ Drive made notable strides, advancing from 10th to 7th place thanks to their strong performance. In Challenger League, the Las Vegas Night Owls climbed from 7th place to 5th after going undefeated in Las Vegas.
At MLP Miami, the New Jersey 5s secured the #1 seed in the playoffs by delivering two impressive 4-0 victories against New York and Orlando. Unfortunately, the AZ Drive couldn’t replicate their success in Las Vegas to secure a spot in the playoffs. On the Challenger side, the Frisco Pandas, spearheaded by Ewa Radzikowska, dominated to position themselves for a 6th place finish and spot in the playoffs. Despite setbacks on day two, they defeated the top-placed Miami Pickleball Club to secure the final spot in the playoffs. Miami Pickleball Club and Chicago Slice battled it out for the top spot. Chicago, powered by #2 finisher Megan Fudge, ultimately came out on top while Miami settled into spot #3.
The Premier League teams participating in MLP playoffs are the New Jersey 5s, St. Louis Shock, Dallas Flash, DC Pickleball, Texas Ranchers, and New York Hustlers. The Challenger League teams include the Chicago Slice, SoCal Hard Eights, Miami Pickleball Club, Atlanta Bouncers, Las Vegas Night Owls, and Frisco Pandas.
